I have been a subscriber to
The Briefing for a number of years. I’ve been getting a little sick of it recently however an article in the most recent issue to grace the floor beside my bed on depression was one of the best I’ve read in a long time. The article entitled
Helping a Friend with Depression looked at ways other Christians can help people with depression.
- Recognize the person does indeed have depression (they may look well but they aren’t)
- Pray for them
- Encourage them and reassure them
- Be patient and understanding with them
- Be ready to help practically
- Support the primary carer
- Remember it’s all going to pass away
I think this is fantastic advice.
