Some random thoughts on Sydney…
... by a Tasmanian country bumpkin.
- What is with the silence and long faces on the trains?
- What is with the freaking cold weather? (as cold as Hobart sheesh)
- What is with so many people being out in town on a Sunday?
- What’s with all the nice Christians?
- What’s with the fact that people carry maps to get around town in the car even though they live there?
- What’s with people not knowing where stuff is when you ask them? (ok so they were randoms).
- What’s with the number of fast food shops in town? I couldn’t escape them... (Maybe they were following me around).

Funny - I didn't realise about the maps. The city roads change frequently - and the drivers can be a bit agro - so it's good to know where you're going.
I haven't caught a train in years, but buses are the same.
I'm glad to hear that they are just as cold up there as we are down here :). If I lived in Sydney, I'd sure carry a map everywhere. It wouldn't matter how long I'd been there! The place is insanely huge.
lol I was asking them where stuff is... I love asking strangers questions it's fun...
Hey mike .. sorry I didn't meet you on Sunday night.
Not being a Sydney-sider originally I can sympathise with you.
I think the reason everyone has a road map is cause Sydney is sooooooo big, and generally if you live on the south side of the bridge you don't go to the north side. If you live in the eastern suburbs you don't got west of the city.
I think that's also the reason that people don't know where things are!
In terms of nice christians .. I think christians are pretty much nice everywhere -- unless you're suggesting they're not nice in Tassie! ;)
I'm also not from Sydney originally and the longer I live here the more I realise how good people who DON'T live in the city have it. People are rude and selfish, particularly on public transport. It just takes getting used to, oh and it helps to know a few nice Christians!
were u asking tourists questions or did they look like locals?
neat
both I think...
